Te Hapua Farm
Turangi, New Zealand
One-month self-designed residency
Te Hapua is a 285 hectare ballot farm of sheep and cows run by the Truebridge family. Originally Maori land, Tika Whare (pronounced Teaka Phorae) means “true home.” I worked out in the paddocks while thousands of sheep grazed around me. At night I camped in a camping van on the farm and shared meals with the extended Truebridge family and neighbors. One afternoon I came back from lunch and found the sheep had found shade inside the house!
